Half Term Update

Hi everyone

I hope you are all doing ok! I just wanted to update you about a few things before the half term break -

1. We will carry on with our 'Heroes who help us' theme for one more week after half term. This means that the Dress-Up day we planned for today will now take place on Friday 6th November. We would love to see as many pupils as possible dressed up as 'heroes who help us'!

2. Flu Vaccinations will take place in school on Tuesday 3rd November. Please could you all read the attached letter and make sure you have completed the online form as soon as possible?

We have also created a social story about the flu vaccinations, which may help some of the pupils understasnd what will happen.

School Closure

Hi everyone,

Following on from my earlier message....

I have spent all afternoon trying to come up with a plan to ensure that we can stay open for the rest of this week. However, we now have 23 staff who need to isolate. This means that we are not able to ensure the safety of all pupils on site this week.

Sadly, this also means that I have taken the very difficult decision to start half term  early for all pupils with immediate effect. This includes all of the pupils who attend our satellite settings.

Please be aware that this is a precautionary measure in light of the number of vulnerable pupils attending the school. We will continue to support pupils at home as much as possible for the rest of this week and staff will make regular contact with you all.

Please see attached for a Social Story that may help you explain to your children.

We will now all return to school on Monday 2nd November as planned.

I am truly sorry that this has happened and I will write to you all in more depth shortly.

Covid-19

Unfortunately, I need to inform you all that we have two suspected Covid-19 cases in school. At present they are not confirmed cases.

However, I have made the decision to send home the pupils and staff in OCEANS & STARFISH from today until after half term.

We are working with Public Health England and BCP Council to ensure that we are following all appropriate guidance.

At present, this is only a precautionary measure. I am very conscious that some of you are very anxious about the current situation. If you would prefer to have your children at home for the rest of this week, you are welcome to collect them from school early today or at the end of the day and have them at home from tomorrow. Hopefully, there will be no concerns once we return after half term.

Please be assured that we will monitor the situation and respond appropriately if the situation changes.

End of Term

To celebrate the end of our half term theme ‘Heroes that help us’ we are organising a 'fab finish' on Friday 23rd October for the pupils.

As part of this we would like pupils to dress-up as a person who is a hero to them or someone they have recognised who helps them.  This could be someone they know, it could be a famous person who they know has helped people, for example Joe Wicks / Marcus Rashford or it could be an organisation like the Police / Fire Service / Doctor / Nurse / Ambulance Service.  We would ideally like this not to be a fictional ‘super hero’ as some of the work we have done this half term is understanding that super heroes are different to the everyday heroes that help them.

During this day a variety of activities will take place, some classes will share information about their hero and most classes will take some time to recognise and thank people that help them, this might be someone or an organisation that the class / or the individual will consider important to them.

We appreciate your support and look forward to having a fun day celebrating the ‘Heroes that Help Us.’

Magna Academy Satellite

Good evening,

I have tonight been informed that Magna Academy has closed early for half term.

This means pupils on roll at Magna Academy will not be attending school next week. I will establish what this means for our satellite classes as soon as possible.

I will contact all parents whose children may be affected, over the weekend, once I know what our plan for the last week of term will be.
